Is the free plan really free?

Yes — no credit card, and the parts you need to hand in an essay are free on purpose. Unlimited sources, all 150+ styles including footnote styles like Oxford, your own custom styles, and the full AI reference list with no weekly limit at all — most tools charge for that one. Export to Word, BibTeX and RIS is free too, so your sources are never held hostage, and you can import a library you already keep in Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote. Saving via the browser extension or bookmarklet is free up to 10 times a week. The Google Docs add-on is free too: the free plan includes 30 citation insertions and 10 Academic Shield checks a week, while the reference list stays unlimited there as well.

What does Pro add?

Pro is for the weeks when you are actually writing. The free weekly limits are sized for a normal term; Pro removes them, so a fifteen-hour push through forty sources never stops to ask you to wait until Monday. It adds unlimited browser captures, unlimited Google Docs insertions and Academic Shield checks, AI summaries so you can tell in ten seconds whether a source is worth reading, and a saved copy of every page you cite — so a dead link two months from now is not your problem. Everything in the free plan comes with it, and the subscription is what keeps that free plan free for everyone else.

What is the Academic Shield, and does it accuse me of anything?

No — and that is the design, not a disclaimer. Select a paragraph you have written and Shield reads it against the source you cited. Two checks look at your writing: is the wording your own, and does it belong in the section it sits in. A third reads the source back the other way and asks whether it actually says what you claim — the check that catches a citation pointing at the wrong source, which no similarity report is built to do. Every phrase it flags is quoted from your own text so you can find it in the document, and any verdict it cannot back with evidence is downgraded rather than shown to you. It says what it could not find in the source we saved; it never says a source is false. 10 checks a week will be free; Pro is unlimited.

Can I cancel Pro at any time?

Absolutely. Cancel from your billing page and you keep Pro access until the end of the billing period — no questions asked.

What is the full reference list feature?
